Improved Discount Management for Line Items
Shopify now provides the ability to add, remove, or update discounts on existing line items when editing orders. This enhancement brings greater flexibility in how you manage discounts for your customers, helping you meet their expectations effectively.
What Changed With Discounts?
Previously, discounts could be applied only to new items added to an order and couldn’t be updated or removed from existing line items. Now, you can:
- Add discounts to existing line items in an order.
- Remove discounts from line items as needed.
- Update manually applied discounts for greater accuracy.

Limitations to Keep in Mind
It's important to note that this functionality only applies to manually added discounts, such as those created through editing or draft orders. Discounts applied automatically or through discount codes at checkout cannot be updated or removed once the order is placed.
