Streamlined Ship to Customer Workflow in Shopify POS

Shopify Updates:

Overview of Ship to Customer Workflow Changes

Shopify has introduced new improvements to the Ship to Customer workflow in the POS system, making it easier than ever to manage shipping orders directly from the cart. These updates ensure staff can seamlessly edit customer details and adjust cart items without losing in-progress information.

Enhanced Customer Information Management

  • Adding a customer is now integrated directly into the cart, moving it to a convenient location at the top of the screen.
  • Staff can select a customer's preferred shipping address from their saved profile by using the “Add Shipping Address” option.
  • For new customers, address details are automatically populated into the shipping address field upon completing their profile.
  • Permissions to manage customers may be overridden for staff checking out a shipping order, ensuring workflow continuity.

Improved Shipping Rate Selection

  • The best available shipping rate is automatically chosen based on the cart’s contents for optimized shipping costs.
  • Staff members can modify the shipping rate or set a custom rate through the ‘Shipping Rate’ button.
  • A prompt is displayed when cart changes affect the selected rate, allowing staff to confirm adjustments.

Error Notifications for Incomplete Information

To enhance workflow accuracy, validation error screens will highlight missing customer information during checkout, preventing staff from proceeding without resolving these issues.
