Calculate Duties and Import Taxes in Draft Orders

Calculate Duties and Import Taxes in Draft Orders

Shopify Updates:

Effortless Calculation of Duties and Import Taxes

Shopify has introduced a new functionality that allows merchants to calculate duties and import taxes directly within Draft Orders. This enhancement simplifies the order process by integrating these calculations earlier in the sales flow.

Previous Process vs. New Update

Previously, duties and taxes were only calculated at checkout. Merchants had to use the 'Send Invoice' option to ensure duties and taxes were included in the final order, creating an additional step in completing orders.

With the latest update, merchants can now see these calculations directly within Draft Orders. This improvement helps save time and reduces the possibility of errors or missed duties and taxes.

How It Works

  • Merchants can create a new Draft Order as they typically would in their Shopify Admin.
  • Once the items and customer information are added, the duties and import taxes will be calculated automatically.
  • Merchants can then check the total costs, including these taxes, before finalizing the sale.
  • The Draft Order can be conveniently converted into a finalized order using the existing payment options, ensuring a seamless workflow.

What This Means for Your Business

This update offers several benefits:

  • Improved transparency on total order costs for both merchants and customers.
  • Streamlined processes, reducing administrative tasks and manual calculations.
  • Greater accuracy in pricing, helping to avoid disputes or unexpected costs later in the transaction process.

By calculating duties and taxes earlier, merchants can provide a smoother and more professional experience for their customers.
