When processing returns, Shopify now offers suggested return reasons tailored specifically to the product category. Instead of generic options, you’ll see relevant choices such as:

  • Apparel: "Too big" or "Too small"
  • Food items: "Taste" or "Weight"
  • General products: "Style" or other category-specific attributes

These suggestions are powered by Shopify's Standard Product Taxonomy and are integrated across:

  • Shopify Admin
  • Point of Sale (POS)
  • Shopify self-serve returns

More specific return reasons lead to better data insights. Benefits include:
