Streamline Your Returns with New Shopify Flow Triggers, Actions, and Templates

Shopify Updates:

Enhanced Tools for Managing Returns with Shopify Flow

Shopify Flow now offers new triggers, actions, and templates specifically designed to help you effectively manage orders involving returns. These updates simplify your workflow and save time by automating repetitive tasks.

New Triggers for Return Activities

To support a wide range of return activities, Flow introduces the following triggers:

  • Refund created: Automatically initiate actions when a refund is created as part of the return process.
  • Return approved: Trigger tasks when a return is approved by your team.
  • Return cancelled: Handle workflows when a return is cancelled.
  • Return closed: Perform actions when a return is officially closed.
  • Return declined: Automate responses when a return is declined.
  • Return reopened: Take actions when a return is reopened after being closed.
  • Return requested: Initiate workflows when a customer submits a return request.

Convenient Actions for Return Management

A new Cancel return action enables merchants to streamline scenarios such as handling cases where customers do not send back products. This helps automate and tidy up return workflows seamlessly.

Pre-Built Templates for Quick Setup

To make it easy to get started, Shopify Flow includes templates for common return use cases:

  • Release fulfillment hold on exchange items once the return is closed: Automatically release exchange items after verifying the order balance when a return closes.
  • Cancel inactive returns: Automatically cancel returns that have not been refunded or restocked within a defined period of time.
  • Get notified on Slack when a customer requests a return: Send customizable Slack notifications whenever a new return request is submitted by a customer.
