Streamlined Shipping Refunds and Financial Summary Updates

Streamlined Shipping Refunds and Financial Summary Updates

Shopify Updates:

Enhanced Financial Summary for Shipping Refunds

We’ve made significant improvements to the way shipping refunds are handled in the financial summary of the order details page. These changes ensure greater accuracy and clarity when processing shipping refunds.

Key Updates:

  • Shipping amounts displayed in the financial summary now account for refunds accurately.
  • If a shipping refund is processed, the remaining shipping amount is updated accordingly. For example, an original shipping charge of $10 with a $6 refund will now display $4 as the final shipping amount.
  • For orders with multiple shipping lines, refunded amounts are proportionately distributed across each shipping line. For instance, if two shipping lines originally cost $10 and $20, and a $6 refund is applied, the updated shipping amounts will be $8 and $16, respectively.

Improved Shipping Refund Process

The refund process on the platform has been streamlined to offer a more efficient and user-friendly experience. This includes the introduction of a new checkbox and additional features for precise refund control.

New Features in the Refund Process:

  • A checkbox has been added to simplify refunding the full shipping amount by default. This can still be edited for partial refunds.
  • For orders with multiple shipping lines, individual shipping lines are now displayed in the refund section, allowing for greater transparency and control.
  • If a shipping refund has already been partially processed, the remaining refundable amount is clearly displayed.

Timeline Events for Shipping Refunds

Refunds specifically targeting shipping charges now generate dedicated timeline events on the order details page. These events provide detailed information and also support multiple shipping lines.

  • Previously, timeline events were created only when refunds included both shipping and product line items. Now, shipping-only refunds are also tracked.
  • This ensures that all shipping-related adjustments are fully documented for review.
