Default Setting for Marketing Pixel Data Sharing Enhanced

Shopify Updates:

What’s Changing with Marketing Pixel Data Sharing?

Shopify is introducing a new default for data sharing optimization. This feature automatically monitors your marketing pixels and ensures that data is only shared with tools actively driving results for your store. This change is designed to enhance efficiency and focus on performance-driven data sharing.

How Does It Work?

The system evaluates multiple signals, such as your store's traffic and sales, to determine if sharing data with a particular tool is beneficial. If a marketing tool isn’t driving results, data sharing will pause for that tool. Should new signals emerge indicating utility, data sharing will automatically resume.

When Will This Take Effect?

This optimized data-sharing setting will be enabled immediately for all active marketing pixels. However, the system will wait at least seven days before reducing data sharing for underperforming pixels.

How Can You Manage Data Sharing Settings?

If you prefer to maintain full data sharing at all times, you can opt out of the optimized data-sharing feature. Simply go to Settings > Customer events and set your pixels to ‘always on.’ This gives you control over how your data is shared.

  • Access the settings via Settings > Customer Events.
  • Choose the 'always on' option for consistent data sharing.
  • Monitor performance signals for better data-sharing decisions.

Benefits of Optimized Data Sharing

  • Improves marketing efficiency by prioritizing high-performing tools.
  • Reduces unnecessary data sharing, enhancing security and compliance.
  • Helps focus on proven strategies to grow your store.
