Enhanced Control with Granular Permissions
Previously, managing staff access to draft orders in Shopify was restricted to a single permission. This permission allowed staff to view, create, edit, and delete draft orders, as well as set payment terms and process payments. However, we're introducing seven new granular staff permissions to provide merchants with greater control.
What Are the New Permissions?
Merchants can now manage access to specific draft order actions with the following individual permissions:
- View draft orders: Allows staff to view draft orders without making changes.
- Create and edit draft orders: Grants the ability to create new draft orders and modify existing ones.
- Apply discounts: Provides staff the ability to add promotional discounts to draft orders.
- Set payment terms: Enables staff to define custom payment terms for draft orders.
- Charge credit card: Allows staff to process payments using credit cards.
- Mark draft orders as paid: Permits marking a draft order as paid after receiving payment through other channels.
- Delete draft orders: Grants permission to permanently delete draft orders.
Seamless Transition for Existing Permissions
To maintain a smooth transition, all existing staff members with the original draft orders permission will automatically receive all seven new permissions, ensuring uninterrupted operations. For merchants seeking more control, these permissions can now be adjusted individually to suit their business requirements.
