Streamlining POS Login with New Permissions
In April 2023, Shopify introduced a feature that allowed Plus merchants to provision POS access directly within their Organization Settings. This new capability eliminated the need to assign POS permissions for individual users at the shop level, simplifying the setup process for merchants and reducing onboarding delays.
October 2023 Update: Reduced POS Login Permissions
In October 2023, Shopify further improved the POS login experience by reducing the permissions required for an initial POS login. However, this functionality was not yet extended to Plus Roles, which meant that assigning POS login permission still had to be managed individually at the shop level.
Latest Update: Bulk Assignment Through Organization Settings
With our latest release, Shopify has introduced the ability to assign POS login permissions through Organization Settings for Plus Roles. This enhancement enables merchants to:
- Assign POS login permissions in bulk to users through predefined Plus Roles.
- Eliminate the need to manage permissions at the individual shop or user level.
- Save time and improve operational efficiency for large teams.
