Streamlined Customs Form Tracking in Shopify
We’re excited to announce an update to the Shopify Admin that makes managing international shipments even smoother. Our new feature allows you to track the customs form printing status directly when purchasing a shipping label.
Key Changes to Customs Form Availability
Previously, customs forms were available for all Managed Markets orders, regardless of their necessity. With this update:
- Customs forms will now only appear if they are required for parcels shipping to non-paperless trade countries.
- When the destination supports paperless trade, there's no need to print a commercial invoice as it is transmitted electronically via the shipping label.
Actions Required for Non-Paperless Trade Countries
If the customs form is displayed in your Shopify Admin:
- Print the customs form and securely attach it to the outside of the parcel.
- Hand over the parcel to the carrier with the form clearly visible.
For paperless trade countries, rest assured that the commercial invoice is included electronically through the shipping label's barcode.
Why This Update Matters
- Reduces printing requirements for the majority of countries that support paperless trade.
- Minimizes confusion by only displaying customs forms when truly necessary.
- Simplifies the shipping process for merchants engaged in international trade.
