Introducing Enhanced Payment Flexibility for Shopify Plus Merchants
Shopify Payments has expanded its capabilities to allow Shopify Plus merchants in Australia and Romania to capture multiple partial payments for the same order under the manual setting. This aligns merchants in these countries with features already available in other regions since October 2023.
Why This Feature Matters
This new functionality benefits merchants in several ways:
- Flexible Shipping Fulfillment: It supports orders shipped from multiple warehouses with varying fulfillment times.
- Customer-Friendly Billing: Buyers can be charged for items at the time of fulfillment rather than at checkout.
- Accounting Compliance: Helps businesses adhere to IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
How to Access This Feature
Merchants can leverage this feature directly from the Orders Page or programmatically via the GraphQL API. The relevant API tools include:
- OrderTransaction Object: Provides access to transaction details for the order.
- OrderCapture Mutation: Enables capturing partial payments for an order.
Additionally, the OrderCapture mutation now supports an optional finalCapture parameter. When set to true, this parameter voids the remaining uncaptured order balance, ensuring complete payment flexibility.
Automatic Enablement for Plus Merchants
This feature is enabled by default for Shopify Plus merchants in eligible regions. If you have specific questions or need guidance, contact your merchant success manager for tailored support.
