Understanding the Update to Shipping Profiles
Previously, Shopify automatically assigned new locations to the default shipping profile when they were set to fulfill online orders. While this seemed convenient, it created challenges for merchants who wanted specific fulfillment methods, like in-store pickup, without enabling shipping from those locations.
What’s Changed?
To enhance flexibility and reduce confusion, Shopify no longer automatically assigns new locations to the default shipping profile. This update allows store owners to better tailor their location-specific fulfillment options.
Benefits of the New System
- Merchants have greater control over delivery and fulfillment options at individual locations.
- All available delivery methods for a location are now displayed, making it easier to enable or disable specific options like shipping, local delivery, or pickup.
- The status of each delivery method is clearly visible, providing better oversight and quick adjustments when needed.
