Key Updates to Tax Liability

Starting August 26, 2025, there will be important changes to how tax liability is handled for orders placed through the Facebook & Instagram sales channel. Meta will no longer act as a marketplace facilitator, meaning merchants will now be responsible for tax collection and filing.

What's Changed

• Orders placed on or after August 26, 2025 through the Facebook & Instagram sales channel will show channel_liable: false in your order data.

What Stays the Same

• Orders placed before August 26, 2025 remain Meta's responsibility for tax filing and will retain channel_liable: true in order data.
• There are no changes required to your Facebook & Instagram sales channel setup at this time.
