What's New
The Inventory CSV now features a 'Bin name' column, allowing you to better organize and streamline your warehouse operations. Add a bin name, such as '05-A-03' or 'Front-Aisle-01', for each variant-location row, and re-import the file to update your system. Bin names will also appear on Pick lists, ensuring efficient order picking.
Key Features
- Bulk update bin names using the Inventory Bulk Editor.
- View bin names directly from the Inventory Index page.
- Display bin names on Pick lists to guide staff through the warehouse efficiently.
Why You'll Love It
Say goodbye to time-consuming searches and third-party spreadsheets! Here’s why this update improves your workflow:
- Faster picking: Pick lists are printed in bin order, reducing the time spent searching for items in the warehouse.
- All-in-one solution: Store and manage bin name data directly in Shopify alongside your inventory, eliminating the need for external software.
How to Get Started
- From your Shopify Admin, go to Products ▸ Inventory ▸ Export and choose the 'Current inventory' template.
- Open the exported CSV file and fill in the 'Bin name' column for each applicable variant-location row.
- Alternatively, use the Bulk Editor in the Admin to update 'Bin name' for each variant-location row.
- Save the updated file and re-import it via Products ▸ Inventory ▸ Import.
- Print a Pick list (Orders ▸ Fulfillment ▸ Pick lists) to see bin names displayed next to each line item.
Good to Know
- Each variant can have one bin name per physical location for now.
- Inventory quantities are still tracked at the location level.
- Bin names are free-text fields; add leading zeros ('01', '02', etc.) to maintain proper sorting order.
- Check the Shopify Help Center for additional resources on using bin names effectively.
