Enhanced Analytics with Metafields: Custom Dimensions and Filters

Enhanced Analytics with Metafields: Custom Dimensions and Filters

Shopify Updates:

Shopify now empowers you to utilize metafields directly within Analytics to create tailored reports that cater to your business requirements. This new feature allows you to group and filter data by custom metafields associated with products, variants, customers, and orders. For example, you can filter by material, loyalty tier, or ingredients to gain deeper insights without exporting data to spreadsheets.

Using Metafields in Analytics

To start using metafields as dimensions in your reports, navigate to Settings → Metafields and metaobjects. From there, enable specific definitions for products, variants, customers, or orders to integrate them into Analytics. Once enabled, they become part of your available filters for reports and explorations.

Why This Matters

  • Streamlined Workflow: Analyze important custom data within Shopify without switching platforms.
  • Enhanced Insights: Unlock personalized metrics, such as loyalty tiers or product materials, to better understand your business trends.
  • Ease of Use: Turn custom metafields into actionable data simply by toggling Enable in Analytics per definition.
